The Priory Museum, housed in a 15th-century inn once frequented by the Portuguese traders who arrived in the royal port royal of Harfleur, illustrates local history from prehistoric times to the present day.
The permanent collection consists for the most part of objects found during the archaeological excavations carried out between 1962 and 1984 on the Gallo-Roman sites of Mont-Cabert in Harfleur; it features luxurious glassware imported from Italy or the Rhineland (1st - 4th century), and ceramics. The early medieval collection comprises weapons found in the tomb of a 6th-century notable, and ceramics and finery on loan from the historical museums of the City of Le Havre. Finally, objects discovered during the excavation of 14th - 17th century houses represent the medieval and modern urban habitat.
